Rice beats Sam Houston, but lose to UT to end season
On Saturday, March 24 Rice fell to University of Texas 36-26. I couldn't have been more proud of our team, a team that would toe to toe with any Rice team of the past. Rice made too many mistakes to pull the upset against a stronger, fit team. Despite the result, it was fantastic game in front of a festive crowd. Since UT was undefeated in Cup play, they automatically won Texas and will advance onwards.
The next Thursday evening, Rice played Sam Houston to finish off the season. Rice dominated the Bearcats winning 50-10. Coach Mario called it an amazing night of rugby and thanked alumni and students for making that game and that season possible. The Owls finish the year with 5 wins and 2 losses in Cup play in their return to Division I rugby.
